For Primary and Secondary Staff (K-12): Especially Year Coordinators, Deputies, Teachers - anyone who could be in a position of having to deal with students with issues and concerns.	For Secondary Staff (7-12): Relevant for all secondary school classroom teachers.	For Primary and Secondary Staff (K-12): Especially for teachers who are looking for ways to make their classroom an even more productive learning space.
Focus: How to be effective when placed in a counselling role by accident ie. issues or requests for help that arise from contact with students in the normal day to day duties teachers and coordinators undertake. Content covered: - Clarifying boundaries and limits of care - Relaxation and stress management techniques - Assessing protective and risk factors for students at risk - Questioning and challenging negative thoughts and beliefs - Creating rapport and connections - Reflective listening - Solution Focused Brief Therapy	Focus: - Helping students create a success mind set. - Helping students with study skills (time management, study notes, study techniques). - Practical motivation strategies and procrastination busters. Content covered: - Helping students develop resilience and confidence - Helping students set and achieve goals - Helping students access inner motivation and overcome procrastination - Helping students develop time management skills - The importance of study notes/summaries - Helping students improve the way they study for tests and examinations, in particular with respect to students learning in different ways.	Focus: - Behaviour and classroom management (managing disruptive classes and students, full day version) - Strategies and steps you can take to make your classroom a more effective learning environment. Content covered: - Teacher Presence - Preventative Classroom Strategies - Supportive Classroom Strategies - Corrective Classroom Strategies Note: This day offers a more detailed coverage of the content covered over half of the day on the 'Be A Better Teacher' workshop.
As a NSW Institute of Teachers' endorsed provider of Institute Registered professional development for the maintenance of accreditation at Professional Competence, the scope of the endorsement for this course is: 2.2.5; 3.2.7; 4.2.1; 4.2.4; 7.2.5 Note: Participants will not be qualified counsellors upon the completion of this course.	Work is currently underway to prepare an application for this course to become an endorsed course.
